The central figure is eloquence personified. She holds a set of compasses in her right hand and a scroll in her left. In this case, the text translates as: “Say what you mean and mean what you say.”
The text flowing left of the compass is the patron’s motto.
The background details reveal eleven figures in various situations including lute-playing, rowing, traversing of bridges, and river watching.
